Compression in Auxillary Mode?

hey guys,

I plan to record drum tracks by micing the kick , snare, left and right overheads and assigning them to four seperate channels on a mackie 1604 vlz pro.

While recording, I want to add a compressor in the aux send/return section with a good setting, assign a bit to each channel, and then feed the wet signals to the subouts going into 4 tracks on my VS-880.

Does any one know a good overall setting to apply and how much of it to apply to each drum?

maybe I'm being a bit dense here...but to get the full benefits of compression, you'd want to send the full signal into the compressor - not just part (ie. by using inserts, not aux send). if you only want to compress a little bit - then get there by adjusting the compressor settings...

I agree with you but I will only have one compressor to work with.

Is it possible to connect 4 channel inserts at the same time to one compressor?

ok, I see what you want to do now....

I don't think that it's possible to compress 4 separate channels unless you have a 4 channel compressor...
