Compresser / Limiter

Can anyone tell me the correct way to connect a compresser/limiter to a 2488 for use just for vocals.
I have been led to believe that it is better to connect the microphone direct to the compresser/limiter as opposed to using an effects channel.
My microphone is 48v phantom powered so how do I go about this to get the best result.

Thanks in anticipation for any solutions received.

You are right, plug your mic in to the compressor and your compressor in to your 2488, hmm, you need phantom power.....I don't think you can run phantom power from your 2488 into the compressor and then your mic. You will need your power source between your mic and compressor. Maybe a mic pre or a channel strip. I think they sell phantom power units, which would be cheaper than the pre or strip. Look in to it. Good Luck.

You will need a preamp before the compressor, the compressor will want a line level signal not a mic level signal.

Alan.
