Composite Video Cable Question

Someone gave me a composite video cable, but the left jack has 2 outer 'prongs' on one end, which prevents it from seating.
What is the purpose of this?

Get some pliers and pull that out. That’s the sheild shell of an RCA jack that came apart when they pulled the plug off of it. Twist it and pull it out with some pliers and discard.

For what its worth, its actually a three conductor audio cable, that gets used for composite because they're short. If you cut off the connectors you find its simple lapped screening. Doesn't usually matter of course. Probably these must have the record of being the type of cable and connector thats been in production the longest as a moulded product. Late 70s onwards.
