Clipping problem after exporting with Sonar

I can get a really decent recording with Sonar. After mixing down a few guitar tracks, I can get my levels up pretty decently. After I'm satisfied, I export the mixed down audio to a .WAV file. I open it to play in Windows Media Player and (unless I have the eq either off or completely FLAT) it clips pretty badly when I use the same eq that I use for listening to music files. It's not even a big eq change, just a small boost in highs and lows. And it starts to clip like mad. I use a terratech EWS 24/96 Mastering soundcard. Does anyone have any idea what I am doing wrong in the mixdown process in Sonar to cause the product to clip in playback mediums when using the EQ to boost frequencies? I mean, I know that if I boosted my EQ on Sonar after mixing down, it will clip but I didin't think it would after it was converted to a wav and was just using a PLAYBACK eq. Thanks
