CLINIC: Channel FX in Fruity Loops

I'm using FL Studio 6.03 XXL Producer Edition for this tutorial.

To begin, open FL and load up your sounds/samples and arrange your beat.

When you feel a sound/loop/sample is lacking and want to create more of a presence or reverb, or any other effect, really, simply follow these steps...

1. Click the FX button to open the mixer/FX panel.
2. Select which channel you'd like to add FX to, and click>drag to assign the appropriate FX channel.
3. Make sure same FX channel is highlighted in the Mixer panel and choose an FX from the drop-down menu. (i've chosen both a compressor and reverb for this screenshot)
4. play with the settings of the new FX while playing the loop until desired sound is accomplished.

for the next sound, i chose a multiband compressor (notice channel 2 is now chosen for the FX channel)

So those are the few simple steps to add FX to any channel in Fruity Loops. Feel free to try out different settings for different FX and mixing different FX together on the same channel. You can also create an FX channel to be used for more than one sound, just make sure that the sound is assigned to the appropriate FX.

Listen to the difference:

I hope that this helps you to create more personalized beats with the sounds that you have to work with.

Peace.

thanks man. i'd do vids if my camera worked. it says the heads need cleaned, but i've done that too many times to count. it's like 7 or 8 years old (VHS-C), and has seen rough times.
