clicking noise

I'm getting a rhythmic clicking noise, it sounds like the second hand on a clock. I first noticed it when DIing my bass. I then plugged the bass into an amp and had the same problem. I figured it was a problem with the on-board pre for the active pickups, but then had the same problem with my guitar (passive pickups) DI'd into the recorder. I moved amp into another room, differant circuit, with the same results. I guess it has something to do with the power supply in my appartment. It wasn't there before and I haven't added any new electronic gear, so any ideas? Would a power conditioner or isolation transformer help?

Thanks, Grinder

That is a true question to be answered...

Nope, It turns out that the problem is the neighbors electric fence. The weeds have grown up enough to cause it to short out, so the solution is simple.

Iv'e ridden many miles horseback with a cheap transistor radio tracing shorts in the elecric fence...Its a sound you never forget....They use atv's now...
