clicking and popping...?

Hey guys, I got my firepod and used it for a while with the bundled cuebase and it worked great. After about a week, during playback i started noticing clicks and pops. I switched to sonar 4 prod edition and the clicks and pops are still present. any suggestions? I dont have any outboard gear that needs a clock signal. The only thing i could tihnk of was my processor speed. But with sonar, i havent seen the CPU bar go over 45% yet even on a 43 channel playback mixing for the pub mixing contest. The system is kinda old but has been able to hold anythingi can throw at it so far untill this. Its a AMD 1900+1.3Ghz with 256 ram.

the ram will hold you back big time, especially with large mixes like the PMC.
The CPU is somewhat aged, but the single best thing you can do is add ram, check your firepod settings (sometimes the 'low' CPU setting is best), and defrag.

Also, try slightly increasing the latency on your soundcard. A lot of the times pops and clicks are due to too short a latency.
