Hello,
I finally got a Royer SF-12 to check out. I publish it here, becdause the SF-12 can be called an expensive mic

Here is a short first impression shoot-out of a casually recorded fragment of Lagrima by Tarrega (I didn't have time to experiment a lot with positioning and to take care of a nice rendition).

Classical Guitar Through Royer SF-12 with different preamps

The mic position is always the same; just the preamp changes.
This recordings show two things, I find:
1. what a great mic the SF-12 actually is (by now it is the best mic on a classical guitar I have ever heard) and
2. how sensitive the combination mic-preamp is (each has a different character).

But find for yourself. I'd be curious which you like best (and whether you like it at all!).

I'll divuldge the secret of the preamps later.

The recording was done to Tascam DR-680 Busman moded at 96kHz/24bit, imported into Cubase 5LE, the fragment was sliced and normalized to -3dB for loudness compatibility and mastered to 44,1kHz/16bit with no effects or processors whatsoever, not even dithering.

Hi rojaros,

Unfortunately your link is not working for me.

Could you fix it? I'd really like to hear your samples.
