How can I decompose what a chorus effect does in simple terms? What I want to do is have something similar to a chorus effect without the sweeping. Are there any chorus VSTs that lock the phasing?

I used it a couple of time last week when I was trying to "phase" EQ (soften using allpass filter) some hi mids kind of like you can do with Tritones PhaseTone free tool:

More than you wanted to know probably but anyway it's all about getting the sweeping combs to sit still - without the sweeping- or allow manual adjustment - I think that's what you're interested in.

There's also a cool tool called "VST plugin analyzer" when you can see the phase of a VST plugin - if you be interested in that kind of thing. Kind of like an RTA only for phase - so I guess it's a RTPA. Written by the same cool guy that gave us the free VST EQ posihfopit:
