Choosing the best studio monitors for a beginner

Hey guys!

Great discussion going here and some solid advice!

I’ve set myself a budget of $500 and below for my first studio monitors and am still not sure which one to get.

I’ve been reading some reviews on this site Find The Best Studio Monitors Under 500 - We Love To Sing and am considering the Yamaha HS5 Studio Monitor.

Does anyone here actually own either of these? What are your experiences?”
 
Of the monitors listed on that web page the JBL LSR 305's are my choice. I have a pair and they're excellent for their price range. I have a feeling you'll hear some others here say the same thing as I know many of us here have the JBL's. The best advice........no matter what.......is to go hear them for yourself. When you do........trust your ears. As for the Yamaha's..........I've heard the HS5's and they don't compare to the JBL's. Just my 2 cents.
