Choosing my Analog Mixer w/ Firewire

I'm looking at buying an Analog board with FireWire that would allow me to simulatneously record upto 6 tracks at a time that will be recognized as individual tracks on the software program for later mixing, etc.

I found the Alesis MultiMix 16 FireWire and was really considering it until I saw a little note that said although the computer software (cubase LE) was compatible w/ Mac, the firewire boards multitracking capability was not.

So now I'm in search of a similar product that will work with my Mac.
I found a Phonic Helix FW board w/ Cubase that would work, but the quality there is questionable. Any suggestions that cost under $700 w/ computer software?

Thanks for the help!

Try doing a search for mac audio interface

Does it HAVE to be a mixer? I assume you need it to pull double duty for live sound or something???
