changing midi velocity....

I am using DFH2 with Cubase LE, had some problems intially but have started being able to write drum patterns for songs from scratch in midi. The problem is: The sampled drums sound great, but I can't change the velocity of individual drum hits to make it sound more realistic. When I reduce the velocity (shown in red bars at the bottom of key editor) there is no change in the sound, all the way from 100% down to just 1%- no change at all. What am I not doing right?

You are using the Quick Load kits. They use only 1 velocity layer, and are as useless as can be. If you load a full kit you will get more velocity layers.

Thanks, I was wondering what the differences were between some of the kits when they sounded the same when I tried them out in the kompact sampler.
