Does anyone know if it is possible to plug 2 joyport/MIDI adapters together (in a chain) to get 2 in / 2 out from a single soundcard - or, will I need 2 soundcards?
Therein lies the problem. I do have a couple of old sound cards lying around that I could use the joyport on.
Not an ideal solution, I know.
I am a little apprehensive about using USB devices for audio. I have a BX motherboard w/2 USB ports. According to the RME website, this may cause dropouts or pops/clicks.
Since you seem to know something about this stuff, have you seen my thread (just below this one right now) about dedicated MIDI interfaces vs. built-in sound card interfaces? You seem to suggest that the dedicated ones are superior, that makes sense to me, but what would be the function difference between one of the simple Midiman interfaces and something like a Motu Micro Express for sequencing one or two synths?
