Casual comparison of two guitars

I took the day off yesterday and was mess'n around learning some stuff out of the July Guitar Player. I went between my Hamer Echotone (335 clone) and my Squire Affinity Tele.

Hamer: Semi-hollow body
Semour Phatt p'ups (like P90s)
Heavier strings (.012 E and wound 3rd)
Rosewood neck

Tele: Solid body
Cheap original p'ups (single coils that do sound somewhat tele-ish)
Light strings
Maple neck

Everything different between the guitars was exactly like most of us would predict. (Hamer - beefy, full tone in all p'up positions; Tele - Twangy, crisp tones, etc.).

I guess the only reason I posted this is because I usually only play one at time for any length of time (unless I'm recording) and it really struck me as to what a night and day difference the two guitars were to play and listen to... Even thought I've played both for years.

Neither one was better, but they were definately on the farther stretches of my standard guitar collection.

Just a ramble on my part.
