I know Stewart Tavener at Xaudia / Extinct Audio specialised in ribbon mic repair and restoration, and later their own product lines.
He may not work on your mic, I don't know, but I bet he'll know someone who would at least.

Thanks mate, I am actually asking for a guy over at SoS forum. Stewart's name has already been mentioned. No joy unfortunately. The mics are not expensive types ~£200 'Blues' and the fault could be a pretty easy fix. They work fine but they hum. The general opinion is a shield connection gone AWOL somewhere but the guy does not feel technically confident enough to have a go himself.
