can't record in Cubase 4.0

Hi, i'm using cubase 4.0 at the moment and basically I have a major problem
I don't know how to record any sound as i don't have any input,
the funny thing is I can hear myself and my mic working thru the speakers
but when I try to record anything in the program nothing happens


I'll give u some detail (I open Cubase, new project, add audio track, then press record
but nothing happens, I've checked the monitor screen and there is no input) I've recorded vocals
before but now it dosen't seem to work)

I think there may be a problem with the program

You need to set up cubase's in/outputs.
