Can I create tape echo type sound using my Tascam 22-2?

Really curious to try this...but I have no idea how. I am using mackie 1642 vlz mixer and also a Fostex Model 80 for tracking this effect (will use on guitar and vocals).

It shouldn't be too tricky to do....Just monitor off the repro head while recording through it and use an additional dedicated return feed from the mixer back into it to vary the amount of repeats/decay. You can use the different tape speeds as well as the pitch control to vary the delay time effect. Also, if you put your finger on the supply reel flange, you might be able to get some flanging effects as well. In stereo, it could be even cooler!

Cheers! :)

indeed, the possibilities are endless. you can just try screwing around to see what you can come up with. you can also try sending the echo back into itself on your mixer for crazy tricks & sound effects.
