So I've not been keeping up with the new digital recording things in the last 2-4 years. I did buy myself a mackie onyx 400f... but honestly I'm not insanely impressed with it... it works but nothing spectacular coming from it. Although, I have always liked the onyx preamps.
Anyway, I'm making some good money now and want to grab some higher end gear. Defiantely computer based. I have a nice laptop with Firewire 400, USB 2.0, eSATA ports... and it's a fast Core 2 Duo with plenty of RAM. Is there any new hardware out there that can allow me to take a significant step up in quality and work flow (but especially quality)? Or, is it all the old stuff that we're used to?
