i thought this would be more worthwhile to post here, as it pretty much affects the entire computer recording spectrum.

this is good, because it can provide a step up in creativity.

this is bad, because a lot of folks are NOT going to read the faq's and get all the drivers necessary for the proper operation of their system. also, win64 cannot be installed as an upgrade on an 32bit xp system, it requires a clean install, in which you may find a need for new dirvers that you never thought about, firewire on board chips, promise on board raid chips, the video card you don't know who oem'ed for the company you bought you computer from, odd sound chips, etc, etc.

microsoft has released x64 for sale, but it is supposed to come with a new computer. i have heard that newegg is selling it with a 5 dollar ypower connector and then giving you 5 dollars off.

it is not built on the xp kernel, but on the win2003 server kernel

call me an old fogey, but i am going to wait at least a year before adopting, as i use my computer for more than a proveing ground for microsoft.
