Cables: Canare L-4E6S or GS-6 ? or ?

Running a 388 - currently doing jingles, demos, etc. All outboard (why I'm here  ) analog delays, Sony DPS-V55 verb, etc...

I have quite a mixture of qualities of cabling. Some, notably some molded-end small-wire gray switchraft, which is noisy or wrong ohm wire for the job.

Anyway, I recently scored several Canare L-4E6S Star Quad cables off ebay, and boy are they quiet!

So, got me thinking about buying bulk, and replacing a bunch of the old rubbish around the studio. I would also like to cable up a new "live rig" I'm putting together.

Will Star Quad work for instrument cables? Namely guitar? (I only need one of those anyway, but)... As with my studio, most/all my gear is unbalanced 1/4", and does need good cables to do the job. MOST of the use for the cable will be mains, parametrics, effects loops, etc, as well as new balanced mic cables.

Canare also makes a GS-6 instrument cable. Will that do the jobs listed above as well as the star quad?

Input?

Thanks, Joe

Belden 1800B - I found for as low as 10 cents per foot.

But for the way I jounce cables around my little studio, I think I'm better off staying away from foil shielding.

I've found GS-6 as low as 43 cents per foot.

And the other one I'm really eyeballing is Canare L-2T2S 2-Conductor Microphone Cable for 38 cents per foot.

Also Canare Star Quad Microphone Cable for a mere 38 cents per foot.!!!

So Star-Quad for the mic cables.

I'm still wondering on the effects loops, out to the burner (I'm an analog-dog), etc. The Canare L-2T2S with one of the 2 leads to ground seems like a great bet, and in the future could always be converted for balanced signal use, if the need arise.

Will it carry my unbalanced signals as cleanly as the GS-6?

Will GS-6 be shielded as well as L-2T2S with one lead to ground?

At this point we've probably entered the world of subjectivity!
