alright i have some cable questions...

1) whats the difference between hi-fi, and lo-fi mic cables, and what applications do each serve

2) what are hi-z cables? Is that the same as a balanced 1/4" cable...

3) when using 1/4" cables for guitar would balanced ones sound better than unbalanced ones?

Thanks

Hi-fi/Lo-fi? Do you mean Hi-Z/Low-Z? If so, a high-z cable is unbalanced (2 conductors) that usually has TS 1/4" phone plugs on each end (for use with Guitar, or for interconnects between gear)

Low-Z is balanced (3 conductor) that usually has XLR or TRS 1/4" phone plugs on each end. Used for microphone or balanced line interconnects.

Answered above

Since a guitar is not (usually) balanced, there would be no difference in signal transmission/quality when using a balanced (3 conductor) cable. It would actually still be an unbalanced signal.
