Cable Question

Can someone help me with this question.
I want to construct some recording cables.
I need a 1/4 unbalenced connection to a XLR male.
How do I connect the 3 paths of the XLR to the paths of the 1/4 unbalenced end.

Pin 2 of the XLR goes to the tip of the 1/4'' plug.
Run a jumper across pins 1 and 3 at the XLR to bridge them together.
Then connect the sleeve of the 1/4'' plug to pin 1 or 3. It doesn't matter which, as you have bridged them together.

Thank you CrankZ1. I will try that. I searched the internet for info about connecting unbalanced to balanced equipment and have the impression that the Tip of the unbalanced is sometimes connected to #2 and sometimes to #3. Does that mater?
