Since I don't trust myself to build my own computer and don't know anyone who does that, where should I go to order a computer for digital recording? I will obviously specify all the components it should have, based on info gleaned from this board and elsewhere, but can I really just order all those components and put the thing together myself?

Jeaston, see my reply to Guitar Kid. You can find these parts at any Computer Store. Compare prices, all stores are not equal. Buy only a Boxed CPU--they carry a 3-year warranty (at least they used to). Be patient, you can find someone to put it together for you for $100.
