Hi, I wanna build a pc from scratch and i mean absolute scratrch, so i could really appreciate a bit of help from you guys as i have done some research but am a little confused.
could you post your setups of all pcs and what works well, and not so well, espec with mobo, cpu, and ram compatabilty as this is an isue im too sure bout. i basically wanna build something good but cant seem to be too sure of what works well together.
i want 2gb ram, intel dual core pro, big HD. im in the uk and would like to spend no more than 600 pounds on the whole lot, is this realistic. dont forget i gotta start with nothing, not even a monitor.thanks

you did not say if this includes the sound card if it does then how many inputs and outputs do you require and at £600 you will be pushing the budget to get everything.plus you do not say if you have operating system or daw software
i would look at ebay for the monitor search for a crt svga
you will need a resolution of 1024x768 or above these can be picked up for under £30 where a tft monitor will cost you about £100 which is a big chunk of you budget.
we need to know what you are going to record at advise you what to go for but a £600 for everything amd might be a better option.

the budget does not include the the soundcard.
i have been looking at the mackie onyx satellite and the presonus inspire as audio interfaces instead,as i dont need many inputs.
the budget does include the OS- which would be XP.i already have cubase sx.
what do you think would be my best options?thanks

here is a refurbished one

are you ok to build it yourself or do you want a prebuilt one or somebody to make you one ?
also where abouts are you in the uk ? (roughly)
does the £600 include postage for the pc or bits and is it possible to stray alittle on the budget if a slight increase will open the door to better componets.

i think you can do slighty better than that model for your money that one only has 1 gig of memory where you asked for 2.
the only reason i asked about the budget is you are close to a quad core machine there is only £40 between the chips for the sake of waiting a little bit longer to raise the money it would be worth it.
