bouncing with marimba

what would be the best combinations of tracks to be bounced to one track on my four track portastudio:

with the following tracks: bass, drums, marimba, acou. guitar

the marimba and bass play a similar tune, a la under my thumb

the drum part is fairly complicated and fits in oddly w/ the music

these four tracks must be bounced to two tracks (basically two different tracks with two instruments on each), so....

What would be the best two combinations?

(bass + marimba, acou. guit. + drums) etc.........

When you do a reduction, it's sometimes a good idea to combine tracks that center around different frequencies so that you can later use EQ on each without affecting the other too badly (for example, bass and piccolo -- adjusting the EQ at the low-end will have a minimal effect on the piccolo...)

Obviously, there will be some effect, but much less than say, reducing keyboards and guitar to a single track...

OTOH, if you reduce the tracks to a common theme, such as a bass/drums bed track - there is merit in treating it as a combined component anyways....

I guess the answer is "it depends!" ;)
