Boss DR-660 MIDI Connector Problem

The "MIDI In" socket on a Boss DR-660 isn't performing reliably. Jiggling is required to get it to receive signal but it often disconnects again quickly. Opening the unit didn't reveal any obvious loose parts; can anyone suggest what the problem might be and a fix for it?

sounds like broken traces on the PCB or broken solder joint. Look at the solder joints and traces at the socket with a magnifier. i'll bet there is a crack somewhere. Midi only uses the 2 inside pins (2 and 10 o'clock) of the DIN5 so only check around those

Correction and Resolved

A slight correction: the cubic housing out of which the circular In port juts is slightly loose, whereas the Out housing is solid.

I fixed the problem by jamming a little bit of paper into the gap between the top of the metal casing and the square-faced black plastic housing to keep the port in place. It's not a perfect solution but the connector is performing much more reliably now. I presume glue would be of help as well.
