books as acoustic treatment?

frequency_

i am wondering if books would be a good solution for treating low frequencies in a control room. Books are thick and i have loads of them :) but i couldn't find any absorbtion coeficient numbers for books, does any of you guys know anything about it? thanks

The thing books lack is gas flow resistivity. It's just too high in most cases. They'll give you a little bit but who knows where or how much. It's better than a hard wall but that's about it.

A little higher frequency diffusion... but not bass absorbtion, I would think.

I have a 20 by 30 studio, with the middle 15' or so of each 30' wall in books. 703 elsewhere. I think it sounds great. Nice and live and even to my ear. The main problem now is the ceiling-floor thing.

bgape seems to have the most technical handle on it.
