Best Subwoofer Location

I am trying to find a good start position for three sub woofers in a home theater room that is 25' W x 12' H x 50' L. Someone told me to use an oscilloscope to find the locations. Any one know how to do this?

Regards,
Mike

I seem to remember reading that at the base of your front speakers is recommended (but it depends on the response of your room) - not sure about a third, but probably at the rear of the room to even out the density of the bass around the room seems to me a sensible place to start.

Due to bass being non directional, why the need for 3 subs? Is it because of the large room size? Extra power required?

I would first try 1 next to the left speaker, 1 next to the right speaker and one under the centre. If the left and right subs are too close to the wall, why not try all 3 subs in the centre next to each other? I feel that having rear subs could cause a phase issue or cause bass build up in parts of the room.

Alan.
