If anyone is farmliar with the Flint, MI area.. there is a bar called the Machine Shop..
WOW what a kick ass live sound!
seriously.. the drums were amazing!
I know they had all the proper gate/compressor setup but the thing that really stood out on sound was the kick drums.. each kick looked like it had an evans eq3 on the resonant side.. i couldn't see the batter side.. there was a pillow inside, and it was mic'd with a shure beta 52a on the sound hole and a beta 91 on the pillow..
crazy awesome sound for metal!
the drums were ddrum i'm not sure what model but it was 7-piece and some kind of floating piccolo snare it looked like..

btw I'm not trying to advertize or promote any product here.. I'm just sharing what I heard with everyone else on here..

also I'm thinking about buying a beta 91 for my recording setup... what do you guys have to say about that mic? good? bad?
I'll probably be trying for a metal-ish sound but not all out attack..
