Best book about basics?

Hello,

I'm just getting started in home recording. I was sequencing with the on-board sequencer on a Korg N264 for years, and just recently hooked it up to my computer with a MIDISport 2x2. Now, I've begun dabbling in recording because I want to be able to burn a well-mixed CD of music.

What do people recommend for a great "basic" book? I have lots of music experience, and some experience in various pieces of software (ProTools, DP, Peak, Cubase, etc.) but I've been using other people's equipment, and never actually tried to put together an integrated setup at home. It was just the other day that it occured to me that I could try recording each individual MIDI track to its own audio track to create a better mix, for instance. I hadn't read anything that suggested anything about translating MIDI to actual audio, and figured I could just plug my headphone jack on the N264 into a recorder and a CD would pop out. Whoops.

Thanks for all advice,
Mike
