I'm borrowing my friend's bass for a while, and it's a fender starcaster j-bass. I am using it for recording some stuff, but I can't figure out which pickup configuration sounds best. There is a separate knob for each pickup. I'm a guitar player, and my logic concerning pickups on guitar doesn't seem to apply to bass also, and I can't tell what sounds the best in the mix. I'm trying to emulate a rise against-ish punk rock sound, so what is generally the norm when it comes to bridge vs. neck?
