How do I wire it up? (XLR to RCA). I tried ground to ground, and the other 2 on the XLR to the RCA hot but the sound is really cracklin' Thanks alot all.

You will want to ground pin 3 along with pin 1, and use pin 2 as your hot connection on the RCA.

What are you trying to do? If the XLR is mic level and you're trying to send it to a -10 unbalanced load, it's a mismatch, level and impedence wise. If you're coming ffrom, say, a mixer's main output that's set up for a +4 into a -10 you have a level mismatch problem.

Yeah, I'm going from my mixer output to my cd burner input. Is it such a big deal? Cant I just boost the output from the mixer.

Actually you'll need to cut the output from the mixer. Easily done with the master faders.

If that's a Mackie mixer, it's got a switch for +4/-10 out.

How will the impendence affect the sound. Or the impedence just affects the level. Thanks

You should not have any high-end rolloff. The mixer's balanced output is a low impedance source capable of driving your CD burner's input impedance with ease.

You're just using one leg of the balanced signal. As long as you're not running long distances it's not problem.

If you did the same with a high-impedance source such as a microphone, then you could run into trouble.
