hi guys i rec some drums in a big open room they sound nice. I made sure to get a good balanced overhead signal etc.and placed them well. Hear is the deal when im mixing out the drums i see i have to stero balance the overheads in everything even when hes playing only left cymbol to get the kick dead center. Is this normal I’ve gated the kick but when its blended together its not balanced unless I automate and stero balance the overheads is this a normal practice?
 
Sounds like your Kick drum is leaking into the Overheads...

Have you tried applying a lo cut filter in the overheads?
