Avalon M5 Preamp.

Sweet, but way to pricey for a single channel. I would opt for two channels of new Amek 9098 or maybe 2 channels of API first for the same price. Maybe even a Vintech.
 
Thanks for the info. I can get a Vintech for around $1500? I assumed they would cost more than that. Well, any more opinions on the M5? And any other suggestions around the same price would be appreciated. I basically want something more transparent than my Meeks.

$500 for what that box does is not that big of a deal to me. I frequently run tracks from the recorder back through it when I need a little more beef. It is also a great way to boost line level material if needed.

Never used the M5. Sorry. But, if you are considering the greatest DI box on the planet, the U5 is your box! :)
