Automating effects - how to turn them on and off

Hi

I am using a UAD-1 DSP card, and I need to automatically turn off certain effects and different times. I need to do this not to stop the sound, but because the effects are processor hungry (on the DSP card), so I have to turn certain effects off to be able to have another one running.

How do I do this in Cubase SX? I can automate the FX parameters, but can't seem to automate turning the whole effect on or off.

Any ideas?

Check your docs - in C5.1, not all parameters and switches were automatable. REAL frustrating. SX might be the same.

If it's still like that, you may be able to set up a midi control (he said, having no idea whether anything like that is even a remote possibility).
