Audition not seeing all inputs of multiple 1010s

Hello,

I just recently got another 1010, and they installed together just fine. However, when I go to the device settings in Audition to set each channel to each input, I am only given a limited number of inputs:

Delta 1010 1/2
Delta 1010 3/4
Delta 1010 5/6
Delta 1010 7/8
Delta 1010 1/2 (2)
Delta 1010 Multi (???)
Delta 1010 SPDIF
Delta 1010 Multi (2) (????)

When I had the single Delta 1010, I was able to select 1/2, 3/4, 5/6, 7/8, no problem, but now I'm wondering where 3/4 (2), 5/6 (2), and 7/8 (2) are... any ideas?

All of the inputs on the 1010's monitor panel work and they're all getting a signal. I have new drivers, so I don't think there's an issue between the two 1010's, I think it's an Audition problem.

Are you using the WDM drivers?

I read somewhere that WDM drivers can only see 10 audio ports (excluding digital I/O). The ASIO dro\ivers do not have that limitation.

If you are using WDM try the ASIO.

I'm using a delta 1010 and two delta 410's and I'm using AUDITION and I'm using the AISO drivers

Inputs
delta 1010 1/2
delta 1010 3/4
delta 1010 5/6
delta 1010 7/8
delta 1010 S/PDIF
delta 410(1) 1/2
delta 410(2) 1/2

outputs
delta 1010 1/2
delta 1010 3/4
delta 1010 5/6
delta 1010 7/8
delta 410(1) 1/2
delta 410(1) 3/4
delta 410(1) 5/6
delta 410(1) 7/8
delta 410(2) 1/2
delta 410(2) 3/4
delta 410(2) 5/6
delta 410(2) 7/8

12in plus S/PDIF and 24 out

I set it up like that a while back and saved it as the defalt session.

Have you got the cards synched using the S/PDIF in/out connections?

I do have the cards synched via the S/PDIF I/O with the proper corrections in the control panel.

I downloaded the latest drivers from m-audio.com, which apparently were the WDM drivers. All I could find on their site was WDM drivers with ASIO support. I'm not familiar with the difference between the two, so could someone please shed some light on this?

Thank you for all of your help so far!

Lemontree, I think you must be mistaken. AA only supports MME and WDM drivers. At the Adobe Audition forum there is a section called "Feature Requests" and ASIO drivers are the most popular item to be requested, due to the large number of sound cards with them. I am among those who hope for implementation, since I could easily use the ASIO feature in the 2 sound cards I have...as it is, I have to use MME.

This is from the M-Audio knoledge base:

"Can't see all my Inputs and Outputs (Windows)

Q: Not all Inputs and Outputs are listed in Windows 2000, but if I start an ASIO application, I can see them all. Why is that?

A: Windows 2000 supports only up to 12 Stereo Inputs- and Outputs. This limitation was lifted in Windows XP (32 Inputs- and Outputs). The ASIO Driver bypasses this limitation of the Operating System - the same applies to the Multichannel WDM driver."

Looks like they are saying you should be able to see all the ports if you are running WinXP --

LemonTree, what OS are you runing?

I'm running 2000 on the recording machine... damn. Thanks for the info. But if I have the latest driver, wouldn't it support the multichannel WDM driver?

Audition doesn't support the Multichannel (Multi) driver - you have to have seperate pairs. The Multi contains all the channels interleaved together - they show up as seperate channels in Cakewalk.

Despite what M-audio said, there is evidence XP will allow more than 16 channel pairs, but Audition can only select 16 (32 mono).

Alright, so I'll basically need a new OS or new recording software?

I appreciate your help, guys, it's been tough trying to find the right words to search for this specific problem!! :D
