audio buddy vs. dmp3?

IMO, yes. The Audio Buddy is supposed to be pretty good for what it is, but the DMP3 is based on the Burr Brown INA 163 chip, and it provides lots of clean quiet gain, excellent stereo separation, and a warm yet detailed sound that is never harsh like a lot of cheap preamps. It sounds great on voice, acoustic guitar, clarinet, percussion (my experience), and probably just about anything else you record using it. I've paired it with a tube mic, FETs, and dynamics, and it sounds great with all of them IMO. It's well worth the extra $50 or $100.

Sounds good. I may get the DMP3 now and a Meek threeQ when they come out for a different flavor.
