Art Pro Channel (w/replaced tubes!) Or Joe Meek One q

Posted a similar question earlier,but ran into another choice!

JOE MEEK ONE Q OR ART PRO CHANNEL

FOR VOCALS ONLY.......

Joe meek one q cost way more!.....around $700.ART PRO CHANNEL goes for only $300 and its tube driven!.

So i was thinking, should i just buy the ART PRO and just upgrade to better tubes, or just go with the Joe meek one q?

The prices arent the problem, i just want to get the best choice!
 
Don't be fooled by the "tube driven" part. I've got the ProChannel and yeah, it sounds decent. I upgraded the tubes and it was marginal on how much it improved the sound. Upgrading tubes (imo) is more like that final splash of beauty you apply to an already good piece of gear.

If I were to buy another ART piece of gear it'd probably be the MPA. Haven't heard the Joe Meek so I gots nuthin there although there is a reason it's more than twice the money. ;)
 
If you can afford $700 for a preamp, why not just go for something more highend like a Speck 5.0, ISA One, UA Solo, Grace 101, P-Solo, Daking Mic Pre 1?

Use your DAW plugins for EQ and compression until you can afford something better.
