Apple Ibooks for recording

I have an analog home studio that I would like to convert to a mobile studio. Right now im recording to a 1/2" reel to reel, mixing with an allen&heath mix wizard into my soundblaster live card on my 4 year old PC.

I am thinking of buying a used apple Ibook so I can take my gear on the road and still have something to mixdown to, edit, and burn CDs and all the other wonderful things that camputers can do. How much am I going to need to spend?

My current PC is a 1ghz pentium (III?) and it does an alright job. I have seen Ibook G3s go on ebay for $300 and im wondering if that is going to be enough computer for what i want to do. Ive seen G4s go for $800. do they have good soundcards? are they reliable? ive never owned an apple, but i hear they are good for "the arts"
