App for triggering wavs with MIDI

I'd like to take a set of wav samples and trigger them by using a MIDI grid in Cakewalk Home Studio 2004 as a DXi or VST. Something like Battery. What other apps do that sort of thing? What's the best bang for the buck?

personally, i like to use a program called Reason to do my midi/sampling work. It connects to home studio or sonar through rewire. There are lots of vst samplers out like vsampler, halion (i think), gigastudio, battery, fruity loops i think can be used via vst, sampletank, etc.
