Anyone used acoustic duct liners to reduce vent noise?

Do they work? I have metal return and supply ducts and I would like to reduce their noise without replacing them with flex duct (hear flex collects a lot of dust and breaks down) and duct board (haven heard good things about it). You can hear what goes on in the the basement in the bedrooms because the sound travels through the vents and vice versa. Anyone tried using acoustic liners and do they work or are they a bothersome maintenance with collecting dust or eroding or something?

Acoustic Duct Liner

Here's one product I was looking at - expensive though.

Sure is expensive! Looks like you would need to pull apart all your ducts to install it. Why not just wrap all your ducts with standard paper-backed fiberglass insulation? And close off all the basement inlets/outlets.
