Anyone got a Tascam 244 they wanna part with?

hungovermorning

Dr. Caveman.
I know there's a few hoarders on here. I've got the cassette four track itch, anyone wanna give theirs a good home in exchange for monetary compensation? PM me.

best,
scott

Aaaawwww,... c'mon!

Seriously,... I think you'd be much happier right out of the box with a 246, as someone (I'd assume) who may expect or need higher capabilities in 4-track cassette recorders.;)

Yes,...

The perfect choice to replaced the 244 is a 246, being 100% compatible. In fact, it's an upgrade.;)

Does anyone know how the front end (preamps, EQ, etc.) compare on the 244 and 246? Are they identical or is one somehow superior to the other?

My feeling...

My feeling is they are the same preamps and EQ. The 246 gives you a bit more in # of channels, routing and monitoring, though.;)

The 246 looks loaded with features alright, but it also looks kind of like a big machine. How big are we talking here?

A few inches longer than the 244.

I've never had a 244. I have a 414 now, and I like the size of it. (Real estate is kind of limited in my studio.)

I had an old Porta One one time, and I remember that being kinda big and bulky. The 246 seems a bit bigger than that, huh?

Obviously, it's not that big if it's the only unit you're dealing with, especially considering the fact that it's a mixer/recorder in one. It's just that, well ... for a while now, cassette 4-tracks have kind of been like "studio B's" to me, and they usually end up living on the corner of a desk somewhere, so their physical size matters a little to me.
