I'm thinking of getting a Fostex MR-8 to play-back backing tracks with my live band but need to ask a few questions first:
1) What is the maximum CF card these take, 2GB?
2) We want to use approx 4 tracks per song during playback (one for drum machines, one for synths, one for voices, one for miscellaneous sound fx) and send these to front of house. But the drummer needs a separate click. Can you assign an individual track to headphone output only?
3) My backing tracks are put together in Protools, how easy is it transfer these multi-tracks onto the Fostex and layer it all back up again in sync across the same number of tracks? I'd obviously consolidate each stem first ending up with 4 WAVs the length of the particular song.... and do this for each song in the set.
4) Say we have 5 songs in our live set, i presume i'd have five songs programmed into the fostex? How quickly - if anytime at all - does it take to load up a new song? Or is the skip between songs instant?
