Ampex MM1200 for $2000

An Ampex MM1200 16 Track 2" recorder just sold on Ebay.co.uk for £1,120 ($2000 approx.). Is that a good price? It was in good condition according to the blurb.
 
I haven't tracked any of these auctions to see what they go for as an average but, considering the fact that I paid $3500.00 for a used TASCAM one inch, 16 track, 7 years ago, I would consider the price that the Ampex sold for to be an excellent value for the buyer and a $40,000.00 dollar loss for the original owner.
