This is just a post to recommend the AMD X2 CPUs for Cubase use.
The multi CPU support really seems to work!
I can also check my e-mail/surf the web/burn a DVD, while doing an audio export. Before having the X2 my machine would basically freeze until it had finished.
Anybody who's building a PC for recording should take a serious look at the X2 chips. I have the X2 3800+, which is 2 3200+ Venice cores slapped together.
It's the cheapest X2, but seems very fast.
Here's my full spec for anybody who's interested - it's tunring out to be a really nice set-up. My only regret is going to 'value' RAM. I think the slower timings are choking the system ever so slightly. Other than that it's great to have a dual core!
Cost me less than 1/2 a Mac G5 to build too
Abit AV8 Mainboard
AMD X2 3800+ CPU
Zalman CNPS7700-Cu
Powercolor Radeon9800 Pro (128MB) with Zalman ZM80C-HP
Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 9 HDD (120GB)
Seagate HDD (120 GB)
Windows XP Pro
2 X Geil Value 1GB PC3200 RAM
Delta66 Soundcard with Omni I/O
