Altec Lansing 2.0

Hey everyone

Here's the situation:

Not much money, living in France in a studio apartment - I've got a fostex vf80 a few mics, guitar, keys etc - I mostly just potter around... I love creating stuff. I'm not doing anything for commercial reasons.

I've had to mix so far with headphones because I had no other choice, no monitors. Today I saw in the local virgin megastore an Altec Lansing 2.0 package which wasn't too expensive...

I know these are computer speakers, but does anyone have any advice/warnings/comments about using computer speakers for monitoring/mixing?

I guess those computer speakers would be better then headphones, but not a lot...! A decent set of headphones might very well deliver better mixes then computer speakers...
If you don't have enough money to buy monitors you're better of monitoring/mixing through a home stereo system imo.
