Alesis MicroVerb 4 Building A Footswitch for Bypass/Tap Tempo HELP!

I'm trying to build a pedal that has two momentary switches each with it's own output. These two switches will be connected to a single footswitch input jack via 1/4" TRS splitter.

Here's the weird part: Both switches need to be connected to a different part of the TRS jack.

Here's what I mean:
The bypass function is connected to the TIP of the TRS input, while the tap tempo delay function is connected to the RING of the TRS input. Is there a way to solder these connections in the pedal box so that each switch's output only connects to the TIP or the RING of the splitter cable?
