Just wondering if anybody has used any of AKGs CCS series of mics, namely the D22, D77 or D88 dynamic mics? They are cheap, so I don't expect too much out of them, but for the price are they any good?
D22 is not really a bad tom mic. D77 and D78 are cheap dynamics, but so is an SM57. For a cheap AKG dynamic, I've had my best luck with D770. Oddly enough, I can't say the same about D880. I would not buy D77/D78 when D770 is not much more expensive. All around, you can stick a D770 anywhere you would stick an SM57. Please also consider Sennheiser e835, which is another usable cheap dynamic that is good for lots of stuff.-Richie
