Adobe Acquires Leading Audio Application and Technology from Syntrillium Software
`Cool Edit Pro' Audio Software Expands Adobe's Professional Digital Video Product Family
SAN JOSE, Calif. — May 19, 2003 (NASDAQ: ADBE) — Adobe Systems Incorporated today announced an agreement to acquire the technology assets of Syntrillium Software, a leader in digital audio tools. Syntrillium's flagship product, Cool Edit Pro, will join the company's existing line of professional digital video products that include Adobe® Premiere®, Adobe After Effects®, Adobe Encore™ DVD and Adobe Photoshop®.
Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. Adobe expects that the acquisition will not have a material impact to earnings per share in Q203 or FY03.
"Cool Edit Pro has won recognition across the music and video industries, and by teaming-up with Adobe we will be able to bring this complete multi-track recording application to an expanded set of customers," said Bob Ellison, president of Syntrillium. "Introducing Cool Edit Pro into the Adobe family is great news for our customers, who will benefit from the company's complementary product line and commitment to delivering high quality products."
