Acoustic Panning

I just got a pair of behringer Ecm800's. I recorded a few tracks with one mic pointing at the 12th fret about 1 ft out and the other over the right shoulder pointing at the the soundhole.

How should I pan the mics?
One mic left and the other right?
Or should I leave them centered and mix to tasted?

Thanks

Your most excellent question has a mildly complex two-part answer that I will bestow upon you, free of charge:

1) Find what sounds right.

2) Do that.

I like that answer!

Also don't forget to experiment with mic placement. Every mic can sound different on different guitars in the same places.

I did this once on my guitar: Put one mic near the 12th fret, and another across the room pointing at a different angle to pick up the ambient sound. (check for phasing) Record, then pan each one hard left and right.

The sound will surprise you. Gave mine a "big room" sound with KILLER stereo imaging.
